The hagiographical literature produced within the Byzantine realm played an outstanding role in the development of medieval prose – being particularly decisive in the case of Slavonic literature. This anthology of texts is complemented by a literary study on the style of the hagiographical genre, and by an extensive glossary of specialised terms.
