Církevní rozkol a slovanský svět

Author: Boris N. Florja
Translated by Michal Téra from the original publication “У истоков религиозного раскола славянского мира (XIII в.)”, Saint Petersburg 2004.

This book by the Russian historian Boris N. Florja is concerned with religious relations within the Slavonic world in the immediate aftermath of the Church schism of 1054. Inter alia, it deals with the church union of Bulgaria and Serbia with Rome (in the first third of the thirteenth century) and their collision course towards the Latin world over the ensuing century. The analysis also details the position of Rus in medieval Europe, within the wider context of relations with their Western neighbours and the Papacy, as also with the growing Tartar threat.
